PERSONALITY: If you ever see a flash of red briefly from the racing stands as the horses round that final bend it will most likely be a horse named Mastermind storming away out on the lead. There was never a more startling color attached to a horse than the color of chestnut that Mastermind features. If you notice that he carries his knees a lot higher than the rest of the field and appears to attack the ground with each stupendously long stride, rest assured that you are not mistaken in identifying the son of two Hall of Fame horses. The son of Speed Demon and El Sol del Mar is a very precocious one at that, with the speed of a jackrabbit he is often zooming circles around his paddock mates Van Guard and Striking Tale. He was always meant to be a sprinter, with his very angular body and hefty chest he is a powerful one at that. Mastermind is a sweet heart in the barn and a sweet heart on the track... for the most part anyway. The moment you give him the signal to go there will be no stopping him. The high action colt will zip away and not tire no matter what you do to hold him back. Some say he should be spread out over longer distances, but for now the fiery chestnut colt is perfect right where is, surging in circles around his rivals and companions.
RACING STYLE: Raz loves being in the front. He breaks extremely well every time, and is always able to get up front. He has the speed and stamina to keep the lead, along with take the lead in the first place. He loves the feeling of having air thrown at his face rather than dirt, but he deals very well with having mud or dirt thrown at his face. He also loves the idea of being in front, and it appearing to him that the whole track is his, and always will be. He can handle any sort of surface, mud, slop, dirt, or turf and run beautifully on it. He loves any sort of challenge and will accept it happily and work hard to overcome it.
HISTORY: Both of Raz's parents are Hall of Famers. Speed Demon was known was his sprinting abilities, and amazing ones at that, and that's where Raz got his sprinting abilities. Speed Demon won big races such as the Boy's Festival, the Eagle Cup, the Star Festival twice, the Buttercup Sprint twice, Starshine Sprint, Flying Colours Memorial Stakes, Unicorn Horn Sprint, and Breeder's Cup Sprint. He was amazing at what he did, and he really showed it in his races. El Sol del Mar won the Preakness Stakes, the Belmont Stakes, and the Breeder's Cup Classic. She was the one to beat in her time, and rarely could anyone beat her. Raz came to Riverwood Acres when Battle Brook Stables became inactive, and he was taken back to Akita Rose Stables. He was then sold to us, as our first horse ever to have two HOF parents. We are very excited to have Raz here!
