PERSONALITY: Conqueror is a fireball on the track and at the barn. He's always willing to show off his stuff and is a complete dynamo everywhere he goes! Conqueror was the result of a planned breeding between gentle DT Jupiter and fiery Lonely Winner, winner of the Distaff and related to Ruffian, to obtain the next superstar with Jupiter's sweet personality. A superstar was born, but he definitely had his mother's personality. Due to having his mother's personality Conqueror is very spirited and not very social. He tends to attack other horses in the paddock and is a handful on the track. There's only one thing that seems to keep him content and completely focused on what he needs to do and that one thing is mints. He's a sucker for mints and turns out to be one of the sweetest horses ever if you give him some, almost a mirror of his father when he's like that. Hopefully one day that personality will stick and Riverwood Acres will have a permanent sweetheart with a winning determined personality on the track!
RACING STYLE: Conqueror breaks however he feels that day. He can settle in at any position he wants, and he can work well from that position and angle. He is extremely powerful and can close really well from anywhere. He loves the feeling of heading down that track and watching the field fly by as he storms towards the finish line. He conquerors his opponents and leaves them no chance to catch up. Conqueror really loves his dirt! No matter what the conditions are! Fast, sloppy, muddy, frozen, heavy, wet-fast. Anything! This boy is ready to show the world up. This is a real big advantage for our training with him because no matter what kind of day it is he's always willing to go out and get working! Turf is a bit of a different story. He'd rather be eating grass then running on it most of the time, but when he gets focused on turf he can do decently well. He prefers a firm turf course, but has done well training on anything between firm and soft. He hates it when the rain has got to the turf too much and he's running on a yielding or heavy waterlogged course. We tend to keep him away from turf races. He is currently in training to improve his sand preference.
HISTORY: Conqueror's pedigree wasn't anything special. His sire was an impressive sprinter who won a few sprinting races in his time around many different tracks. His dam never raced much, but she was by the famed Ruffian and was pretty popular in her time for that. But his pedigree wasn't much compared to some other horses around him. But he was. He refuses to let people mark him lower just because of his pedigree. He will fight to the finish no matter what it takes, something he inherited from his strong-willed father. Conqueror was born here at Riverwood Acres before he was sold as a two year old to Monarch Racing Inc. He raced there for a year or so and did really well, never placing out of the rankings. Monarch Racing Inc. stopped racing and Conqueror was brought back to Riverwood Acres where he is here to stay.
